There are many other benefits gained from cooking aside from a full belly. It is often said that cooking reduces stress, anxiety, and other kinds of emotional distress with the actions involved in preparing a meal. Here are examples of how cooking can make us less stressed.


Cooking encourages creativity. From the preparation to the actual serving of meals, cooking fully encourages active creativity. Gathering ingredients, figuring out what the end taste of the dish, and plating brings out the creative side in you, in a gastronomic way.


Ingredient therapy. Believe it or not, there is such a thing as ingredient therapy. Prepping meals with aromatic ingredients has been proven to reduce stress. The shapes and colors of spices, and different kinds of ingredients also soothe the nerves and present a sense of tranquility.

Why you should pick up boxing as a sport

There are a lot of sports out there that can teach you a wide set of skills. A practical sport to learn is something that can tone your body and at the same time teach you skills that would be useful during certain times. This is why martial arts and boxing make such a great sport. Here are some reasons why you should pick up boxing as a sport.


Boxing is centered on discipline and technique, not violence. Boxing literally teaches you how to keep your feet planted and to be prepared for any situation. Repeating jabs, straights, hooks, and uppercuts more times than you can count instills these movements into your muscles. Not only does this strengthen your body, but it also helps you cultivate mental strength.

Keeping the communication line open for improved marriages

In any relationship, communication is key. Without it, individuals won’t have the means to communicate how they feel towards the people dear to them, and what they want and need from them. To help a marriage weather the storms of life, the communication line must be open at all times.


One’s partner has the right to know whatever’s going on with their significant other. Phrases that begin with “You never” or “You always” carry an accusing tone which may not be pleasant for a partner to hear. It’s best to express feelings using these phrases so as to get the point clear without sounding like and actually being an accuser. While one’s feelings matter and should be considered by the other, not all of them should be said, especially if it won’t be helpful for the relationship. Speak words that are good and true, and veer away from accusations and excuses.


Maintaining an attitude of gratitude can transform a relationship for the better. Simple deeds like showing appreciation for the little things can solidify marriages. Clearly expressing needs and wants can prevent arguments that can quickly heat up into a fight.

Writing a love note is a sweet and simple act to show the other that they are loved and appreciated. Gardening: How to get started

Yes, you can build your own fine vegetable or flowering garden. But it cannot be done without hard work, dedication, and fundamental knowledge of what it takes to succeed in this hobby. Here are some surefire ways to get started properly.

Have a solid idea of what you want 

Is it a veggie or flower garden that you like to have? Or do you want to grow herbs of various kinds? If it’s flowers, do you want annuals, perennials, or a mix of the two? Have a concrete idea of what will work best for you and your resources. It’s best to always start small, succeeding a little instead of failing big time. 

Choose a good spot 

Pick a place where the vegetables or most flowers will get the six hours or so of full sun every day that they need. Watch how the sun moves across this selected space. Research, however, on plants that are able to tolerate shade, or ask the local garden center how much sun a particular plant needs. Put the garden somewhere close to a water source, too. 

Water with the right amount 

Plants are made up mostly of water and they need it for the photosynthesis that provides them energy for growth. Avoid watering seed-starting mix, for instance, from the top, as that courts disease and may damage sprouts. To keep water supply steady, consider “self-watering” seed-starting kits as well. 

Mulch! 

Keep weeds out and water in by covering the soil with a few inches of mulch, which are available in different types such as pine needles and bark chips. 

Maintain it with love 

Water when necessary (but don’t overdo it), pull weeds before they grow, and fertilize properly. Stop and smell the flowers, of course, and rest assured your garden is on its way with enough love and dedication.

Entrepreneurship: Going Past The Idea Phase And Setting Up Shop

Entrepreneurs have countless ideas, yet cultivating the best one is the most challenging bit in a startup.  The idea phase is important, but shouldn’t cause bottlenecks in setting up shop.  With a clear business idea and an established plan, an entrepreneur must take action to see results. 

Before anything else, one must make sure that entrepreneurship is what they really want to do.  Otherwise, precious time will be wasted in wandering.  Find the motivation and the determination to pursue this career, and stay disciplined throughout the journey.  Decide which kind of business to tackle among the dozens of business types.  One’s strengths and weaknesses would be a good basis on the kind of business to start and manage.

With a clear idea of type of business to engage in, diligently research the idea.  Setting up a business isn’t a race.  Spend time to learn and understand the ins and outs of the trade before moving any further.  Proceed only when the idea is established and all matters have been considered.  Write a business plan before launching any business.  This would force an entrepreneur to answer critical questions for long-term success.

Choose a business structure as this would determine its tax planning, benefits, and tradeoffs.  Assemble a core team, with each member having complementary strengths.  An attorney, tax accountant, insurance adviser, and a virtual assistant would make for a good core team in the start of the business.  Be sure to handle the paperwork to have an idea of what goes into the process.

You’ve been dating someone for a long time. You’ve gotten to know their quirks, seen them on their happiest, and been there for them while they’re on the slump. They are the first one that comes to your mind when you wake up and the last thoughts before you go to sleep. You ask yourself: “Is this it? Is this love I’m feeling?”

Effective Boxing Tips To Get You Started

Jonah Engler Silberman shares how boxing has transcended the exclusivity it once had as a sport; nowadays more and more people are turning to boxing as a sound fitness and exercise regimen to complement their typical workout routines. For those keen on putting on the gloves, here are some tips that should get you “hooked” (figuratively speaking, of course).

The first thing to do is to look for a good boxing club or gym. There are more and more of these venues that offer fitness and resistance training without insisting that members box competitively. Most amateur and professional boxing clubs have licensed coaches and staff with an excellent safety record, so just make sure that you do a background check. Your first concern is always safety.

Some complementary workout routines for boxing are running, skipping rope, and cycling. Make sure that you do one of these for improved footwork, cardiovascular training, and to build your endurance.

You need to gain power in your punches, and the best way to do this is to work on the boxing bags. The more you use your entire body to punch, the harder your punches become. Along with power gain is building muscle mass via push-ups, sit-ups, dips, and overall weight training.

Aside from shadowboxing in front of a mirror to practice your developing skills and study your stance and technique, you would eventually need to spar with other boxers. Just make sure that you are sparring with somebody who’s on the same skill level.
