Keeping the communication line open for improved marriages

In any relationship, communication is key. Without it, individuals won’t have the means to communicate how they feel towards the people dear to them, and what they want and need from them. To help a marriage weather the storms of life, the communication line must be open at all times.

One’s partner has the right to know whatever’s going on with their significant other. Phrases that begin with “You never” or “You always” carry an accusing tone which may not be pleasant for a partner to hear. It’s best to express feelings using these phrases so as to get the point clear without sounding like and actually being an accuser. While one’s feelings matter and should be considered by the other, not all of them should be said, especially if it won’t be helpful for the relationship. Speak words that are good and true, and veer away from accusations and excuses.

Maintaining an attitude of gratitude can transform a relationship for the better. Simple deeds like showing appreciation for the little things can solidify marriages. Clearly expressing needs and wants can prevent arguments that can quickly heat up into a fight.

Writing a love note is a sweet and simple act to show the other that they are loved and appreciated. Going beyond plain “I love you” remarks and using character-quality language can get appreciation straight to one’s heart. Every couple has their own way of showing love, respect, gratitude, and appreciation towards one another. It’s just a matter of being consistent.

How Can You Tell If You’Re In Love?

You’ve been dating someone for a long time. You’ve gotten to know their quirks, seen them on their happiest, and been there for them while they’re on the slump. They are the first one that comes to your mind when you wake up and the last thoughts before you go to sleep. You ask yourself: “Is this it? Is this love I’m feeling?”

Sometimes, it’s difficult to know whether you’re in love or just infatuated to a degree. It’s so easy to throw the word “love” around that many people often commit mistakes. Maybe you love what a person does or some parts about them, but not their entirety. In the words of some experts, here are ways on how you can tell if you’re in love.

One way of telling you’re actually in love is when you want to share your relationship with others. This means you can’t wait to introduce them to your closest friends. This goes beyond your personality by bringing them to a place of trust. Introducing them to your closest friends whom you’ve known for years is a big deal. And it’s not enough to just introduce them. You want your friends to like them as well.

You also become more self-reflective when you’re in love. You change the way you see yourself and grow as a person. And it’s this change for the better that is triggered by someone new, someone you love.
